What inspired you to start your own blog?

It was two years ago, when I had just finished my Master on Marketing and Communication of Fashion and Luxury by ELLE magazine. I was looking for a job in fashion, so I thought having a blog could help me, and and so it began.

How important is the name of the blog?

Finding a name for your blog is one of the most difficult steps. First of all, because all the “cool” names are already taken. And, also, because the name should indicate something about you, and it’s not so easy to find the right one. In my case, I chose La Georgienne, (the Georgian) because I’m Georgian and I love France, Paris and the French language, so I put all these things together – et voila! Lots of people don’t even know my real name; they think of me like as La Georgienne, and I actually like it.

How difficult is it to find a blog niche?

A lot! I’m still working on it. Before finding it, you should define who you are, what your style is, what you want to show and say through your blog.

What is the best way to promote and grow your blog?

Use social media! Don’t forget your followers; respect them, and try to answer all comments. For me, the most important ones are Instagram, Facebook, and Lookbook. It’s also very important to collaborate with brands. This way their followers will know you, too. Quality photos are also important! People appreciate it. I’m lucky to be able to work with a professional photographer. He knows exactly what to do.

What is your main audience and how did you reach out to them?

My target right now is between France, Spain and Georgia; I’m Georgian, I live in Paris, but have lived in Spain for nine years. Of course, I have followers from other countries too. The age group ranges between 15 and 35 years old. I think my blog’s style defines my audience.

How important is it for your business to attend fashion week?

When I was living in Spain, Valencia, I was always going to Valencia Fashion Week, which was really cool, but then I moved to Paris, and you can imagine the difference. Paris is the capital of fashion, and it’s like an obligation for me to attend fashion week. This way you meet new people, and if you are lucky, your style could end up in fashion magazines. I got featured in some of them during this PFW, the most important one being Vogue Italia. It’s a really big step in a fashion blogger’s career.

What are the best tips for building long-term relationships and partnerships with brands?

Find the brands you actually like, and fit your style. Don’t accept all kinds of collaborations, even if they pay. If the brand does not fit in your image, you are going to spoil it, and will lose out on other opportunities.

What is the biggest challenge about running a blog?

Do quality job, gain an audience and keep it. And of course, try to live every day with your blog.

What advice would you give to anyone looking to start a blog today?

There are millions of fashion blogs, so before starting a new one, it’s important to find an element which will set you apart from others. It’s not only about taking and posting photos. There should be something more. I’m still thinking how to improve and make my work different from others.

What are your ultimate plans for your blog/blogging career?

To keep working very hard, and introduce new categories in my blog. Me and my photographer we have in mind something very interesting, which we wanted to start after this fashion week. Can’t say exactly what it is, but if you love Paris, you will like it.
