What inspired you to start your own blog?
I’ve always been conscious of my outfits since my early days. Having nothing important to do meant I was head deep in my wardrobe creating looks just for the fun of it. However without the presence of internet or social media as it is today my family had to bear the burden of approving or disapproving my looks. Fast forward to early 2014 I started reading fashion blogs and it hit me how deep inside I was no different to any of these other bloggers, there was a lot of passion burning inside I had to do something about it, and this is how Noordinaryshe.com came about in July 2014.
How important is the name of the blog?
I called my blog ‘Noordinaryshe’ because I want to constantly remind myself to try to be different than everyone. Not because I’m better but originality gives you an identity… this is my mantra.
How difficult is it to find a blog niche?
There are thousands of other blogs out there just like with any other field of business in life. Like I said, being original and creative with your work will set you aside. People will either love or hate it notwithstanding, never be pressured to be the next person. I also believe one should try and be versatile. Don’t be a one trick pony or people tend to get bored.
What is the best way to promote and grow your blog?
I would say Social media, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter being the top on the leader board. It also helps to join some Fashion social sites like Pose, Lookbook, Chicisimo but to mention a few.
What is your main audience and how did you reach out to them?
My main audience are fashion loving ladies who are looking for inspiration and day to day tips on styling their wardrobe. I keep them updated by constantly posting outfits on Instagram and Facebook.
How important is it for your business to attend fashion week?
Even though I’m not majorly about trend there is no denying that trend has a major influence on the styling of everyday pieces. As a blogger there will always be the pressure to stay current and for this reason I have plans to attend fashion week from next year.
What are the best tips for building long-term relationships and partnerships with brands?
I think as a blogger the main focus should be building and improving your blog content. It takes a while to grow and learn the ropes. You get better with time and later down the line the request for partnerships begins to roll in.
What is the biggest challenge about running a blog?
My biggest challenge is time. As a full time working mum and wife, there’s only wishing there was a lot more than 24 hours to a day. I basically have to juggle a lot. Most times I devout my lunch time to photoshoots and then there’s virtually no resting at the weekend if I have to create constant content. It is literarily non-stop but a lot of fun.
What advice would you give to anyone looking to start a blog today?
My advice to anyone wanting to start a fashion blog is to stay positive no matter what, it’s a lot of dedication required but your passion will keep you going.
What are your ultimate plans for your blog/blogging career?
My ultimate plan is to start my own fashion/styling line in future. I have always and will always love fashion so my goal is to work tirelessly until the day I can give my 100% attention to running a full scale fashion business.
